Thought for the Day

You grow to the extent that you give…….so leave people better than you found them.  Emerson taught us that without a rich heart, wealth is an ugly beggar.  So true, we were created to help each other.  If you treat a person as they are, they remain the same.  If you treat them as if they were what they could be, they become the very best version of themselves.  Giving and helping others is not a sacrifice we make but an investment.  People will always treat you the way you view them and words of encouragement to those around you is the best way to encourage yourself.  Bringing light where there is darkness, is healing.

So find the good in everyone; draw out their talents and dreams, cultivate their abilities and believe the very best for them.  We have long mused why we are not kinder to one another and especially when the world needs more love.  All of us have experienced heart-felt kindness, so we know the beauty and the benefits of receiving it.  Today pay it forward, lift someone up, offer a heart warming smile, pay a compliment, give a just because gift, make a phone call, hug a friend, offer genuine thanks to the people who may serve your morning coffee.  Now seize the day and remember each human being offers us an opportunity to serve.  Everybody needs help from somebody. Sometimes it is just a reminder that unhappiness is a season that will pass, bringing sunshine and flowers.

Robin Sharma wrote – Mother Teresa once said “There are no great acts.  There are only small acts done with great love.”  What small acts can you do today to deepen the bonds between you and the people you value the most?  What random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty can you offer to someone in an effort to make his or her day just a little better?  The irony of being more compassionate is that the very act of giving to others makes you feel better as well.  If there is one thing that I have learned in life, it is that the little things are the big things.”
