Thought for the Day

This Thought is dedicated to all the celebrations of Emancipation, Inclusivity, and Freedom this weekend. Learn more about the Halton Celebrations at www.hbhas.ca

Today’s Challenge……Make a list of everything you’re grateful for and then read it before you go to sleep tonight.

Always do your best……make a contribution, make a difference, and leave a legacy of love. Some will make a great invention, or discover a cure,  and be world famous; while others will quietly and humbly make a contribution to the lives of others, they will use their mindfulness to have empathy for the plight of people who experience life differently than them. There is a big difference between having compassion and having empathy. Because the latter requires us to walk in the shoes of those less fortunate. It means that when we say freedom and liberty for all, we have to live it not just say it.

The celebrations this weekend will give us all time to reflect on a time when the scales of human equality were not balanced. It is a time to truly cherish community, roots, and culture. A time to celebrate our differences and focus on inclusivity. It is a time to let your heart and your mind summon the very best energy, and to want the very best for all of us. While there is still work to be done, it is a time to celebrate what has been accomplished and to conquer the hate that we all see with Love. Freedom is a right that we all have, and this weekend is an opportunity to shine your light. To remember that we are always stronger together….and to honour diversity, and inclusivity you have to make an effort every day, in every way. So, be open to love, be open to learning, and always have gratitude for our freedom.

Robin Sharma said “Stand for something bigger than yourself. Every single one of us is here for a reason, a special purpose, a mission. Yes build a beautiful life for yourself and those you love. Yes, be happy and have a lot of fun. And yes, become successful, on your own terms rather than those suggested to you by society. But, above all else, be significant. Make your life matter. Be of use; and be of service to as many people as possible. This is how each of us can shift from the realm of the ordinary into the heights of the extraordinary. And walk among the best who have lived.”
