Thought for the Day

Always do your best…………attitude is everything.   My early childhood lessons were taught gently……my mother would say “it’s not what happens to us, it’s how we respond to it that makes the difference.”   Later she introduced the 20/80 rule which was, when life happens – you can dedicate 20% of your time to feel what you feel, have a fit and fall right in it; then you must dedicate the remaining 80% of your time towards resolving the issue.  You must create a shift in your thinking and then follow through with action. Those early lessons have served me well throughout my life.

Because it is important to know that we have some control over how we experience life.  That we alone make the choices for how we respond to change, challenge, heartache, and grief.  We get to choose how we go out into the world and how we touch the lives of those we encounter and live with. We can lead by example when life throws us a curve ball, by embracing a positive attitude.  When you can shift your thinking…..it’s like getting a clean slate. So today pass along your smile, and enjoy thinking about how your happiness creates a positive chain reaction.  A peaceful mind is a powerful mind.

Charles Swindoll said “The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important that the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say, or do.  It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.  We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.  The only thing we can do is play on the one thing we have, and that is our attitude.  I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.  And so it is with YOU…….we are all in charge of our attitude.”
