Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott

Manage your time well……..learn to say no. A schedule that goes from one meeting to another, that barely gives you time to breathe between appointments, that hears you declare several times a day I am so busy, and causes you to schedule things weeks, even months out is not the calendar of a successful person. It is the calendar of someone who needs to learn time management.

It is said show me your calendar and I will show you your priorities…….so the opportunity is to gain clarity on what is important, what is goal related, and to align your time to your goals and dreams. Many people try to look at their calendars and prioritize the events……if you are to excel at time management you need to schedule your priorities, not prioritize your schedule. You cannot make sanity out of an insane situation……so we have to get a handle on learning where to place our energy, and learning to say NO.

Ultimately if you are feeling a lack of balance , if you crave more time, the key to reclaiming your life has a lot more to do with what you remove from your life, than how you organize it. As you think about your priorities, include your emotional, physical, spiritual health, work related projects and community service and number one is self-care……you cannot be there for everyone else if you are not there for you. When you practice extreme self care you raise the standards for what you will and will not tolerate in your life and then you live to them. Remember you always experience what you tolerate.

Robin Sharma said “Every time you say yes to something that is unimportant, you say no to something that is important. Yes men and yes women never create anything great. There is huge value in getting good at saying no.”
