Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Keep your commitments…….especially the ones you make to yourself.  We all have our personal “to do” lists and then we have our “I should” lists…..the issue is nothing is accomplished if all we do is make lists.   We can come up with a thousand reasons why we haven’t done something, why we don’t do what we know we should and  none of those reasons would be acceptable if we heard them from someone else. Even if your head isn’t allowing you to acknowledge that you are procrastinating, your heart knows.

How we treat ourselves is a reflection of how we will treat others….so we need to achieve mastery in keeping our own commitments first. It helps to have a statement of intention, about what you desire to experience within yourself and a clear definition of what you must do to make it happen.  A statement of intention is not a philosophy it is about action – what you will and will not do, what you can and cannot do, in order to achieve your personal goals.  Every day that you don’t start what you know in your heart you need to, is another day of unnecessary negative energy.  Whatever it is, start today and then hold your feet to the fire, the energy that will rush in because you started will be the fuel you need to keep going.

Stephen Covey said “Listen to your conscience regarding something that you simply know you should do, then start small on it, make a promise and keep it.   Then move forward and make a little larger promise and keep it.  Eventually you will discover that your sense of honour and commitment will become greater than your moods, and that will give you the level of confidence and excitement that you can move on to other areas where you feel you need to make improvements or give service.  Most people equate discipline with an absence of freedom.  In fact, the opposite is true; only the disciplined are truly free.  The undisciplined are slaves to moods, appetites, and passions.”
