Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Learn from difficult relationships……..they are your personal emotional trainers and they are sent so that you can keep getting better.  When someone pushes all your buttons, when their presence makes you bristle, then you are face to face with a life lesson and it may not be what you think.  Because when we have that kind of reaction to another person, it says so much more about us then them.  Labeling and judging allows us to place all of the emphasis and blame on the other person, when really we should be looking inward and understanding what we are meant to learn from the encounter.

One of the attributes of great leaders is that they know when to get out of their own way.  They know where they excel and where they have absolute domain and that is where they play…..they do not try to be all things to all people and most importantly they do not profess to have knowledge and expertise where they have none.  Difficult relationships remind us that it takes an assortment of knowledge, skill, and styles to make the world go round.  They help us to maintain our humility, and with that we can learn from what makes us uncomfortable…….because you’re not growing if you’re comfortable.

Robin Sharma said “Your most challenging relationships carries with it the seeds of your greatest growth.  The relationship that tests/frustrates/irritates you the most actually is one of your greatest blessings.  Why?  Because it reveals to you the very beliefs/fears and false assumptions that most limit you.  Get that and you can step into your next level of greatness.  The best in business and in life use that aggravating relationship to discover what is keeping them small.  And the great ones use what they learn to build greater self-awareness, authentic power, and personal understanding.”
