Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Always do your best………and remember, every day, every moment, presents you with a choice.  You choose whether you will build walls or bridges in your life.  At times we paint ourselves into the corner of the canvas and then we never discover the beauty of the whole picture.  It is so much better to go with the flow of life….to be open to the possibilities, and to venture out into the unknown rather than trying to narrowly define the only way that you can be happy. When we place limitations on what we will pursue to find happiness and success, we build walls around ourselves.  We diminish the possibilities and we defeat our own ability to go with the flow.

We must build bridges with our choices.  We must be open to new environments, new experiences, and new people…….we must be willing to step outside of the walls we erect and recognize that what is possible is related to what we attempt. No matter where you find yourself in life…..no matter how you feel, there is only one thing that you can do.  Change your mind.  Remove the limitations and be willing to walk across life`s bridges towards your next chapter.  True happiness resides in each of us….and we fool ourselves when we impose limitations on where we have to live, and how we have to live in order to tap into that reservoir. Only your inner authority can give you outer authority.

Stephen R. Covey said “Setbacks are inevitable, misery is a choice.  Reactive people are often affected by their physical environment.  If the weather is good, they feel good.  If it isn`t, it affects their attitude and their performance.  Proactive people can carry their own weather with them.  Whether it rains or shines makes no difference to them.  Our language is a very real indicator of the degree to which we see ourselves as proactive people.  The language of reactive people absolves them of responsibility.  “That`s me. That`s just the way I am.  There`s nothing I can do about it, It is what it is“ …………….when really our behaviour is a function of our decisions, not our conditions.
