Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Always do your best…….there are no excuses, each day affords you the opportunity to make a choice.  To make a choice to be as positive an influence on those around you as you can be.  To rise above your external circumstances and bring a balanced outlook to your day.  No one’s life is perfect, we must all face challenges from time to time – what we all have the opportunity to do is decide how we are going to respond to those challenges.  We need to be grace under pressure.  That is what separates good from great, and leaders from followers.  It is that strong spirit and an amazing ability to lift people up, to inspire them, and to love your way through the tough times.

While it is true you cannot control how others interact with you, or lead you.  You can place a filter on things when you share information and provide direction.  Just because you get the news from a person who has less than stellar interpersonal skills, whose need for control is suffocating…..doesn’t mean that you don’t have a choice on how you respond, because you do.  You can filter bad communication, you can seek to encourage and inspire…..simply put when “they’re being them, you can still be you.”  Today decide that no matter what the day brings you, you will handle it with grace and be an outstanding example to those around you.   Because you left them better than you found them….

Robin Sharma said “Dr Martin Luther King  Jr. once said in a speech: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”  So true, what we are as human beings presents itself more fully in times of adversity than at times of ease.  Anyone can be positive, polite, and kind when things are going well.  What distinguishes people with an extraordinary character from the rest of us is how they respond when life sends one of its inevitable curves.  They don’t crumble or surrender.  They reach deeply into themselves and present even more of their highest nature to the world.  The wisest among us have a remarkable  ability to maintain grounded when times get tough.”
