Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Savour the simple stuff……….it centres us and reminds us of what truly matters in this life.  The whole premise of starting and ending each day with gratitude…..is to ground ourselves in the present moment and to be thankful for what it brings.  Over time if we never pause to be grateful…..we begin to take life’s gems for granted.  Like the feeling we get when we are out on the open road, with the sun shining, feeling healthy, breathing and just being.  Living in the moment doesn’t mean throwing away all your responsibilities and cares……it just means taking a moment or two every now and then to appreciate being alive and to aim to act like today matters and to live life to the full, right here, right now.

We can get caught projecting all of our happiness into the future….as we lament if only I were richer, younger, healthier, happier, in love, had a better job – the list is endless.  We convince ourselves, if only this or that were changed everything would be perfect, wouldn’t it?  Unfortunately not, life doesn’t work like that, because there will always be something else.   It is much more satisfying to learn to love and be grateful for what you have right now……because it exists for us to experience. The key is to cherish the present moment because it is real and tangible….that will allow you to enjoy each moment while pursuing your dreams.  Enjoy being alive and having the strength and vitality to do all that dreaming,  then you are living with gratitude.

Robin Sharma said – Dale Carnegie wrote – One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living.  We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.  Have the wisdom to savour the simple things.  The wonderful memories that they bring will add more value to your life than any of the material toys we spend so much life energy pursuing.  At the end of the day, the only thing we can take with us are our memories of all those great life experiences that add meaning to our lives. Given this I would rather spend my days doing things that will leave me happy memories – not collecting possessions.”
