Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Strive for harmonious relationships……..the quality of your relationships are ultimately a reflection of how you feel about yourself.   It is also said that we experience what we tolerate……so in every relationship, be it a partner, a child, a friend, a boss, a co-worker we must take responsibility for our contribution to the relationship both good and bad.  Blaming other people for what happens in your life is giving your power away and blaming doesn’t fix things.  Relationships require a delicate balance of give and take if they become one sided, if one person is only making withdrawals from the relationship and doesn’t take the time to make emotional deposits then it tips the balance, and harmony and balance are destroyed.

If you have a string of broken relationships and hurt feelings between you and others in your life journey then the first acknowledgement you must make is that you are the common denominator……you cannot improve external relationships if you do not gain harmony in your relationship with yourself.  The only way relationships will last is if you see them as a place you go to give, not a place you go to take. So instead of starting your next disagreement with “you don’t” try starting it with “I will.”

Louise Hay said “Do we accept conditions in our relationships that make us feel diminished, uncomfortable, or downright miserable.  Are we afraid to say the words “I need” thinking we’ll be rejected, abandoned, shamed or sent away.  Are we anxious sharing our true feelings?  Is our vow to love, honour, and cherish ourselves as important as the vows we make to others.”
