Thought for the Day ~ By Lisa Scott Life Coach

Always do your best………cultivate the emotions of warmth and kindness and try to live each day with appreciation and gratitude.  At our core we have the capability to understand the value of consistency in how we connect with others, we know that we feel infinitely better when we are being good to ourselves and to those around us.  No one wants to be around a bully or someone who speaks first and thinks later, that is so demotivating. It’s important to note that bully’s don’t only reside in school, they are everywhere in our lives, and they thrive and survive because we enable them by saying nothing when they use mean spirited tactics to get things done. We experience what we tolerate.

We need to realize that people will respond in kind……give them a way to contribute, allow them to have autonomy and they will give you their commitment.  Control them, speak down to them, catch them doing things wrong and they will give you compliance and nothing more. People are not their behaviours; understand what drives them, and you will really know them in a way that brings harmony to the relationship.  An attitude of gratitude and positive expectancy makes for great decision making that is proactive and increases momentum. Be certain that when you make decisions you’re in a resourceful state, rather than in reactive survival mode, as your emotional state is key to driving your success.

Iyanla Vanzant said “Love is what you have come into life to give.  Treat everyone, regardless of who they are, what they do or how they do it, the same way you treat yourself.  See the good about everyone and in everyone, even when they make mistakes you feel they should not make.  Speak to people in a way that will open their hearts, allowing them to feel welcome and worthy.  Give others the same benefit of the doubt that you give to yourself.  Are these not the things you need to feel loved?”
