Thought for the Day ~ Random Acts of Kindness

Always do your best………..stay focused on what really counts. We all need something in our life that takes us out of ourselves and perhaps stops us from taking life so seriously.  There needs to be something that reminds us of the simple pleasures that  life has to offer.  There is nothing like doing something for others, for the greater good, to take you out of yourself.  We can become self absorbed with our lives, and very quickly lose sight of the important things.  Like being a great friend, spending time with people you love, reading a good book, or savouring a home cooked meal.  When we abandon the little pleasures……we lose our compass and our way.

Too much emphasis is placed on presents at this time of year….and while receiving gifts will make the day magical…..connecting with our loved ones, spending time and giving the gift of our presence will be a treasured memory for a life time.  It is the little moments, the treasured traditions, the gratitude for a soft place to fall, a warm meal, and the laughter of those we love that weave a beautiful life quilt. It is the moments where we felt safe and loved that truly fill our soul with warm memories. The surest way to happiness is to lose yourself in a cause greater than yourself.  Not a big cause, but a heartfelt cause that will remind you of what is most important in this life.  To always bring light, where there may have been darkness.

Robin Sharma said “Every time you fail to do the right thing, you fuel the habit of doing the wrong thing.  And this little principle applies throughout your life.  Every time you forget to say thank you to someone, you have actually taken action to build the habit of never saying thank you.  Every time you forget to return a phone call promptly, you have taken a step to develop the habit of never returning phone calls on time.  In life, the little things are actually the big things.  And the quality of success you will experience in your life ultimately depends upon the tiny choices you make every minute of every hour of every day. With busy lives we lose sight of the things that really count.”
