Thought of the Day

Good Morning,

Happy Tuesday. Have an awesome day. Enjoy.

Always do your best…….. and be true to your authentic self.  On any given day, staying true to ourselves can be challenging. Yet it is vital to our well being and our ongoing growth. It is far easier to go with the crowd, to blend in, so we don’t stand out or at least that is what we tell ourselves. Truth be told, the bigger the gap between your authentic self and the facade that goes out into the world each day…..the more difficult and stressful life will be. As children  we would like to believe that when we grow up, our fear of vulnerability will fade away as we mature. In fact, the opposite is true. As we mature we recognize how bold and courageous you have to be as an adult, especially when it comes to vulnerability.  The social herding that we experience encourages all of  us to blend in, not to stand out.

In our most basic understanding vulnerability is being afraid of being ourselves and doing it anyway. It is running towards our fears and letting our light shine brightly. It is risk taking without the benefit of a safety net. But there is nothing so satisfying as taking a courageous step towards our truth. You will never shine brighter, or feel more alive than when you give yourself permission to be you. Permission to respect your own boundaries, and to hold yourself accountable to your values no matter the circumstances. As Maya Angelou taught us “you are only free when you realize you belong no place, you belong every place,  or no place at all, the price is high and the reward is great.” Never allow someone to disturb your inner souls quiet grace….we must all make an effort to look beyond empty souls so that no one can hurt or disturb our peace.

Brene Brown said “True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness  in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are, it requires you to be who you are.”
