Thought of the Day

Good Morning,

Happy Tuesday. Have an amazing day. Enjoy.

Always do your best……there are times when we can’t seem to get out of our own heads. When we lie awake thinking, thinking, thinking, all to no avail. As it feels like nothing will relieve our sense of loss, worry, grief, anger, or frustration. During tough times as I was growing up with a single mom…..she would always take us out of ourselves. We would head to the local food bank and volunteer; or help a family in need,  or perhaps do something thoughtful for a neighbour or friend. She would remind us of all the simple things that we had in our life to be grateful for and to not get stuck. I am forever grateful that I had a mom who knew what to do when our world felt a little off kilter.  Throughout her life, she would quietly and lovingly help people as she could….and it was a gift to watch and learn.

As adults we have to remember the joy that comes from giving, serving, and caring. It is a way that we can shine our light throughout our lives. It gives us perspective, and shows us that while things may be momentarily challenging; taking the focus off your own troubles and serving the greater good in some meaningful way, allows us to avoid permanence thinking. Difficult times and service to others helps us to understand better than before, how infinitely rich, and beautiful life is in every way. It shows us that after the winter, there will be spring. So go and shine your light today for someone in need….and know that one candle may light many others.

Robin Sharma said “All great leaders, thinkers, and humanitarians have abandoned selfish lives for selfless lives and in doing so found all the happiness, abundance, and satisfaction they desired. Albert Schweitzer said “there is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed” – and the ancient Chinese believed that a little fragrance always clings to the hand that gives you roses. One of the greatest lessons for a highly fulfilling life is to rise from a life spent chasing success to one dedicated to finding significance; and the best way to create significance is to ask yourself – How may I serve?”
