Thought of the Day

Do your best…… and stand in your power. There are always going to be highs and lows in your life experiences. At times it may seem that you get more than your fair share of tough roads that are difficult to navigate. It may even feel like life just keeps coming for you. During these times it is so important to use mindfulness to evaluate your role in what you are experiencing. This can be challenging for us, as we prefer to use blame when things are less than stellar in our lives. Blame is a handy way for us to avoid taking responsibility for where we find ourselves. But it won’t help us in the long term. Blame shifts the responsibility to someone else, or something else, but then what? Usually nothing. We stay when we know things are out of alignment. We talk endlessly about how difficult it is. We speak of what we tolerate as if we have no power to change it. So the lesson in these circumstances, is that we experience what we tolerate.

That blame is a nice way to postpone taking action or standing in your power. That if you know what your values are; if you know what you will or won’t tolerate. Then all you have to do is stand with your principles and values, that’s how we stand in our power. Otherwise, you will react to everything that happens externally to you. Your well being will be governed by what is happening around you. Just like a buoy you will be tossed around by the waves of life, all the while feeling powerless. Because when we get into the habit of reacting to what’s happening ….we forget that we have a choice to make. One that honours who we are at our core. So, don’t let people trample on your principles and values and stand idly by, while they do it. Never let anything or anyone take you out of yourself. Live your life as you understand it. You have to live authentically and if you have to run….then run in the direction of your best and happiest dreams, across the bridge that was built by your own desire to heal. But stand in your power! Namaste.

Stephen R. Covey said “Centre your life on principles. Principles don’t react to anything. They don’t depend on the behaviour  of others, the environment, or the current fad for their validity. Principles don’t die. They aren’t here one day and gone the next. Correct principles are like compasses. They are always pointing the way. And if we  know how to read them; we won’t get lost, confused, or fooled by conflicting voices and values. There really is a set of values, a sense of fairness, honesty and respect, and contribution that transcends culture….something that is timeless, which transcends the ages and is also self-evident.”
