Thought of the Day

Good Morning,

Happy Wednesday. Have an amazing day. Enjoy.

Been thinking a lot about this lately…..Let’s do better.

Today’s Challenge ~ Absolutely no judgement.

Always do your best….don’t get trapped within the limitations of your judgement. It will inhibit your freedom. Because you see we live in a new normal where we call each other out for everything. Social Media is the beast that facilitates our courageous judgment of our friends, family, associates, and acquaintances. We call each other out for who we support politically, how we view a situation, how we feel about a person’s actions….we even call each other out for the images and words with which we choose to express ourselves. We judge everything. It is epidemic and disrespectful in nature. While some have the discipline to know that social media is not a place for real conversations where we are careful to be respectful and resist the temptation to attack. Others become more brave, and less concerned with how they communicate on line, only wanting to win their arguments.  The call out culture is not activism, it is judgement.

Activism means that you work in the community for what you believe in; that you stand up to tyranny, misogyny, racism, and inequality. Judgment will usually lead you to call a person out, which leads to personal attacks about their views and their beliefs. That’s not activism. Its ego wanting to win the argument and be right. If you can’t have a respectful  conversation about your beliefs with someone who looks at things differently, then it is time for you to reflect and make change. Becoming too attached to our beliefs, diminishes our freedom and our openness to differences. Becoming too attached means your fight to win or be right instead of exchanging views in an intellectual discussion.  Freedom of choice is not about being right or wrong, it’s about opening up the channels of communication and listening to understand. Because the first thing we lose when we are too attached to our views is respect. Then we put conditions on our relationships because of those views. We give power to things outside of ourselves and we forget that we are the ones with power. But how do you use it? Namaste

Paul Valery said “ Our judgments judge us, and nothing reveals us, exposes our weaknesses, more ingeniously than the attitude of pronouncing upon our fellows.”
