Thought of the Day

Today’s Challenge ~ Make a decision about something that you have been procrastinating. Do it now, today is the day.

Don’t give up before you try………stick with your decisions.  At times we have to make bold decisions, take steps in faith,  and carry on with personal courage.  We all have to make decisions in both our personal and professional lives which often means change and potentially a new normal.  During these times it is easy to let the narrators of our mind take over and when we do, they undo our good intentions with fear based questions.  It is a fact that many of us give up just before we will realize success,  because we give in to our discomfort with discomfort.  And then not sticking to our decisions becomes a pattern in our lives.   A pattern that reveals our inability to hang in when the going gets tough.

To understand your reactions to change and difficult life moments…reflect on how you respond.  Do you think long and hard about what you have to do?  Do you acknowledge where your decisions will have an impact and be difficult for you and for those around you?  Do you allow fear to cloud your spirit and make you vacillate in your head, even though your heart knows the truth?  As young adults there is so much to experience, try, and savour that we jump from one experience to another…as we mature we learn the value of sticking to our commitments and hanging in when we make tough decisions.  In the words of Sophocles “Fortune is not on the side of the faint hearted”

Robin Sharma said “I’ll make you this promise: on your deathbed, in the twilight of your life, it will not be all the risks you took that you will regret the most.  Rather, what will fill your heart with the greatest amount of regret and sadness will be all those risks that you did not take, all those opportunities you did not seize and all those fears you did not face.  Remember that on the other side of fear lies freedom.   To live your life to the fullest, start taking more risks and doing the things you fear.  Get good at being uncomfortable and stop walking the path of least resistance.  The real secret to a life of abundance is to stop spending your days searching for security and to start spending your time pursuing opportunities.”
