Thought of the Day

Always do your best……we have to stop and smell the roses. Primarily because we are not meant to run infinitely. Our health and our well being require us to rest every now and then. To top up our gas tanks and make sure that we have fuel for another day. When we push ourselves, we end up running on adrenalin and when we do that we are not living our best life. We end up wearing our busyness like it’s a badge of honour, it’s not. It’s a sign that we are pushing rather than being. It is holding the mirror up and saying slow down, pause, reflect, refuel, regenerate. Because the more addicted you are to having, the less devoted you will be to living your best life.

So, when you make time to pause today….reflect on what and who you are grateful for in your life.

Take note of your surroundings. Take a walk in nature and feel her rejuvenating spirit. In essence we have to treat our lives like we are climbing a mountain. We can push and walk and climb for a while….but then when we get to the first look out, we need to stop, take in the beauty, fill our lungs with fresh air, appreciate what we have accomplished and rest so that we can take on the next trail with replenished  energy. We will never know any true sense of accomplishment if all we do is push and chase our way through life. We all need to pay attention to ourselves. If you weed your yard, have your car serviced, and repaint your house, why neglect your body? We have to stop and smell the roses….and remember what is truly important, the simple pleasures. For if we cannot appreciate them, we will always be chasing an elusive dream.

Robin Sharma said “Most people don’t discover what’s most important in life until they are too old to do anything about it. They spend many of their best years pursuing things that matter little in the end. While society invites us to fill our lives with material objects, the best part of us knows that the more basic pleasures are the ones that enrich and sustain us. No matter how easy or hard our current conditions, we all have a wealth of simple blessings around us…waiting to be counted. As we do, our happiness grows. Our gratitude expands. And each day becomes a breath taking gift.”
