Take care of yourself………society has conditioned us to think that when we take care of ourselves, we are being selfish. Yet if we don’t take care of ourselves first, then we have nothing left to give, we are empty. When you fly they tell you to place the mask over your own face first, so that you will be able to help others around you. This is a beautiful metaphor for life and the practice of self care. When you love and take care of yourself, your soul shines brightly with joy. Peace and contentment emanate from you, and you are better able to share that love and joy with those you care about the most.
Happiness is a state of being that we create – it’s a choice that comes from within, no matter what is happening around us. Taking care of yourself allows you to always offer your best to yourself and the world. It offers peace even when everything seems out of order in your life. Self-care is the gentle love that we give to ourselves, and in doing so we protect and honour our sensitivity. We do so by becoming aware of the people, places, and things that cause our hearts to shut down, and leave the present moment. So take a few moments each day and give yourself the gift of space. Time to breathe deeply, just sitting, not thinking, not doing, not worrying, just being present and so very grateful for the pleasure of being alive.
Doreen Virtue said “Do something today to Honour Yourself. Not for anyone else. When you start honouring your OWN needs first, that’s when the Universe see’s you are taking care of yourself…which then will help bring more balance, health and abundance into your life. Do you not think you are worth it? Because you are. You are a divine being, and you are very loved…so love yourself today. If you feel afraid, ask for help, then, let go and let the magic happen to receive. Remember when you do anything out of obligation …you are carrying negative energy and passing it on to the other person. If you honour yourself first, you are also honouring them as well out of love, because you are love.”
