Always do your best………and that means taking action. Nothing good will happen if you stay within the narrow confines of your head, thinking, thinking, thinking. That only creates drama as you systematically work your way through all the possibilities of how something will turn out. The truth is you know what you have to do. You can come up with a thousand reasons why you haven’t, or tell the story again of how you were wronged. But sooner rather than later, you will have to accept the present moment and take action. It is one way that we can have a positive influence on our life experiences.
The mark of a strong character lies not in doing what is fun to do or what is easy to do. The sign of deep moral authority appears in the individual who consistently does what he needs to do rather than taking the easy way out. Your ego doesn’t want to disappoint the people around you…..and so it keeps you in thinking mode. Yet thinking, making decisions, and acting on them are the characteristics of great leaders. So lead by example, make decisions, and act on them. If we are not careful, we spend our days waiting for the perfect time to take action, and that time never seems to come. Anybody who is currently achieving anything in life is simultaneously risking failure, and if we don’t risk failure……we never get the chance to succeed.
Robin Sharma said “Most of us know what we need to do in order to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. The real problem is that we don’t do what we know. Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is only potential power. It transforms itself into actual power the moment you decisively act on it. All too often we spend our days waiting for the ideal path to appear in front of us. We forget that paths are made by walking, not waiting. The smallest of actions is always better than the boldest of intentions.”
