Be present in your life………and find the power of now. Mayan wisdom teaches us that time is like a river, you cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. So we must enjoy and savour every moment that is offered to us. Life already moves swiftly by itself and many of us speed it up even more with our tendency to live in the future tense. Statements like “When this happens then I will do that” and taking this promised land approach to your life will ensure that you are not experiencing the power of now.
Being present means you don’t drag yesterday into now by dwelling on regrets, you don’t think all the time about what you have to do tomorrow or next week but rather you enjoy the fullness of the moment and the richness that comes from being present. As children we understand this and so we embrace each new day with passion and youthful exuberance – getting the most from every minute. Don’t under estimate the people around you, even when you are sitting right beside them, they will know if your mind is on other things because when you are distracted by phones, computers, etc, you are emotionally unavailable to them. There is a time for work, a time for play, and time for just being, and they all need your undivided attention.
Eckhart Tolle said “Always say yes to the present moment. Surrender to what is. Say yes to life and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you. Whereas before you dwelt in time and paid brief visits to the now, have your dwelling place in the now and pay brief visits to past and future when required to deal with the practical aspects of your life situation. The moment that judgement stops through acceptance of what is, you are free of the mind.”
