Always do your best……..to focus on the things that truly matter in life. You can have all the material wealth but your soul is empty. Too often we measure our success by one criteria, what we have instead of who we are. But your net worth, net health, and net happiness all hinge exclusively upon your net thoughts, net words, and net deeds. Ultimately the world will define you by the character that you build in your lifetime…..because that will last in the memories of those you touch but the things you accumulate will disappear as if you were not even here.
Choosing to live your life by your own choice is the greatest freedom you will ever have, so we must choose well, and work on defining ourselves from the inside out. That way we can build our character and bring a richness to life with the way we relate to the world. As you live your days, so you craft your life and if you were to lose what you have accumulated and defined yourself with…….. the question is who would you be then?
Stephen Covey said “When we borrow our strength from the label on our shirt, sweater, shoes, or dress; from our association with a club; from our position of influence, power and prestige; from our car, beautiful house, or other status symbols and trappings; or from our good looks, stylish clothing, or degrees and credentials, we do so in order to compensate for being impoverished and hollow inside. But by doing so, we reinforce our dependency on these symbols, on living by appearances, on extrinsic values, and we build weakness within.”
