Today’s Challenge…..Walk with LOVE

Always do your best……humanity is about identifying with someone else’s pain, and being there. It is the ability to hurt for others. That’s how we stop the injustice in the world.  Small day to day injustices and big world problems all offer us an opportunity to show our humanity.  My children are allergic to peanuts so no peanut butter in our house. Often parents would stop me at school and complain that their children couldn’t bring a peanut butter sandwich because of mine. My response was always, I want you to imagine that your child could die from ingesting nuts; what would you want the world to do to protect them? Just because something doesn’t affect you, or your family is no reason to ignore it.

When we see people who have travelled hundreds of miles on foot with their families to escape horrible living conditions we must ask ourselves; if my family was in this situation what would I hope the world would do to help us?  So, we must let our humanity shine. We must bring love and empathy, and compassion wherever we go. Perhaps our privilege or our circumstances preclude that much of the worlds troubles fall far away from our day to day experience. We could try to ignore them and tell ourselves I’m okay, that’s not my problem. But how shallow is the spirit that only cares for themselves. The heart that can only extend love to their chosen few. MLK taught us that only love can conquer hate and in a world where we call each other out for EVERYTHING let us instead, create a shift so that we can act love, be love, and see with love. The miracle of life is not to walk on water, but to walk the earth with love. Namaste.

Maya Angelou said “Nobody but nobody makes it out here alone. What really matters now is LOVE.  I mean, that condition in the human spirit that is so profound it allows us to rise. Strength, love, courage, love, kindness, love, that is what really matters. There has always been evil and there will always be evil. But there has always been good, and there is good now.”
