Always do your best……….walk through your life with awareness. As we grow and develop we are given beliefs, we adopt beliefs, and through education we form beliefs. This does not mean that we must hold tightly to these beliefs no matter what. Nor does it mean that we have to convince others to our way of thinking. Rather through awareness we are able to analyze whether our beliefs still serve us, and release the ones that don’t. Your ego will always instruct you to defend your beliefs, because it wants to be right.
But, the acceptance of people’s right to believe what they want; allows us to be open to the shifts that can take place. For many of us, our attachment to our beliefs is unhealthy. We see the people and circumstances in our life through the lens of our beliefs. So we quietly label, judge, and create an image of what we think rather than experiencing people directly. Our labels and filters keep us from living authentically…..and they prevent us from having a very human experience with each person we meet. So, be open to finding the blessing or the gift within everything and everyone today. It is like gathering flowers for a beautiful bouquet.
Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. said “Since we are the living beings who give life to our beliefs in the first place, we must remember to shift our confidence away from our beliefs and back to ourselves. Rather than having confidence in what we know, we have confidence in who we are. Instead of defending or debating a belief with all our might, we look and listen to what is going on around us. Questioning ourselves and being open to changing our minds about something does not mean that we must question the core of our being. With self-confidence, we can simply question our beliefs and the stories we’ve created to describe our being.”
