Place your focus on the right things……….ancient and sage advice from Confucius tells us “the person who chases two rabbits catches neither.” Many of us are adrenalin junkies, we live in a constant state of fight or flight which is tweaked on a regular basis and so adrenalin actually becomes our energy source. This is not sustainable and rather than accomplishing a few really great things we stretch ourselves so thin that we are not effective.
Recognizing when we are just skimming the trees on everything rather than delving deeply into our lives on the meaningful things, is paramount to us optimizing our life experience. We need to commit ourselves to eliminating the multitude of distractions in our lives and concentrating on the fundamentals. Because after all the person who tries to achieve everything ultimately achieves nothing.
Robin Sharma said “Time is your most precious commodity and yet most of us live our lives as if we have all the time in the world. The real secret to getting control of your life is to restore a sense of focus in your days. The real secret to getting things done is knowing what things need to be left undone. Once you start spending the hours of your days only on those high-leverage activities and priorities that will advance your life’s mission and legacy, everything will change.”
