Integrity matters……..one of our greatest challenges in creating a joyful, peaceful, and abundant life is taking responsibility for what we do and how we do it. As long as we are blaming someone or something else – we are not taking responsibility for our life. While life will throw us curve balls every now and then, we decide how we respond and how long we let things affect us. Not taking responsibility chips away at our character because we find ourselves making excuses for what is happening in our life as if we had nothing to do with it.
Our character is built daily, by our habits and we are totally and completely responsible for them. It is important to survey our lives, to be mindful of how we treat people, and to consistently take responsibility for making those things better. Worry, fear, and anger may cause us to have a lapse in judgment….we may point the finger at others but doing so lacks integrity. Rather, we must ensure that our sense of honour becomes more powerful than our moods; and when that happens we will discover our true power the changeless intrinsic value that resides within…….
Stephen Covey said “One of the most important ways to manifest integrity is to be loyal to those who are not present. In doing so, we build the trust of those who are present. When you defend those who are absent, you retain the trust of those present. Many believe that the only things we need for success are talent, energy, and personality. But history has taught us that, over the long haul, who we are is more important that who we appear to be. Character communicates most eloquently.”
