Always do your best…….as we approach May it is a good time for us to reflect.  A time to think about the commitments and promises you made to yourself as you began a new year.  A time to see if you are truly able to keep those promises……because if not then you are not loving yourself enough and you are back on the treadmill of life.  Somewhere along the line we equated exhaustion with high performance……..and so the victory goes to the person who can say they are BUSY.  We wear that badge as if it were something to be proud of…..when really it is a sign that we have given our power away.  We have let go of the need for any semblance of balance in our life….and traded it for putting our bodies in overdrive.

We may tell ourselves that we run every day or visit the gym and so we are taking care of the “temple”  but the temple has an inside and that needs our attention as much or more than the outside.  Only placing emphasis on the outside makes us exert ourselves excessively and in our attempts to do our best we deplete our energy and go against ourselves.  Whatever commitments you made this year…..it’s time to examine them and understand where you are in relation to keeping them.  As Einstein taught us…..”doing the same things and expecting  a different result is the definition of insanity” So as you begin your day, pause, reflect, and revise…….take your power back and love yourself enough to keep your promises to yourself.

Don Miguel Ruiz said “It you take action because you have to, then there  is no way you are going to do your best.  Doing your best doesn’t really feel like work because you enjoy whatever you are doing.  You know you’re doing your best when you are enjoying the action or doing it in a way that will not have negative repercussions for you.  You do your best because you want to do it, not because you have to do it, not because you are trying to please the judge, and not because you are trying to please other people.  When you do your best you learn to accept yourself.  But you have to be aware and learn from your mistakes.  Learning from your mistakes means you practice, look honestly at the results, and keep practicing.  This increases your awareness.”
