*This Thought is dedicated in memory of Maya Angelou……a beautiful soul, an inspiring spirit, a poet, speaker, mentor, and a woman whose legacy we will know for years to come. She definitely left us better than she found us. So very grateful to have lived during her time. RIP Maya……..
Always do your best………leave people better than you found them. There will be those days where your spirit is tested. Where you will wonder what else can happen? You will be tempted to put your energy into complaining and playing the victim. Even though you know that your complaints will fall on deaf ears and do nothing to help you resolve what is happening. It is in those moments, when you are challenged, when you want to give into your negative energy that you must lift yourself up and take action. Action is the only thing that will change things for you. You need to create that shift in your thinking and only then will you see a shift in what you experience.
We tend to give our power away through out the day. We give it to the day that started off badly. We give it to the traffic, to the poor attitude of those we encounter, and we give it to life’s circumstances. So it’s important to remember that every day we make a choice. We can absolutely choose to bring kindness and a smile to each encounter. We can take back our power as we drive…..and enjoy the scenery and the privilege of just being. Today, love people more than they deserve. Never miss a chance to say a kind word to another person or to give them your smile when they have lost theirs. Life will teach you, oh so eloquently, that the moments when you have really lived, are the moments where you have done things in the spirit of love.
Maya Angelou said “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution. Never whine. Whining lets a brute know that a victim is in the neighbourhood. Be certain that you do not die without having done something wonderful for humanity.”
