Be impeccable with your words………..they are building your legacy. How we speak to people, the tone we use, the words we choose….they all matter. Wisdom teaches us that “it is not what you say, it is how you say it” and yet as we mature we sometimes let go of the notion that we are in charge of the intent and effect of our communications.
It is not up to the people around us to interpret our intentions from what we say…..it is up to us to make sure that we convey our intent by managing the effect of our words. Moreover, we can leave people better than we find them, by being mindful of our communication style and its effect, and by simply bringing compassion and kindness with our words. We do not need a title to lead in this way……every single person has the opportunity to go out into the world and make it a better place. Let’s start today……..
Oliver Wendell Holmes said “Each day at work and at home, you have an opportunity to create an impact, to make a difference and to reveal your potential. And one of the things that separates leaders from followers is that those who lead speak openly, honestly, and courageously. Even when the very thought of doing so frightens them. Even when their voices shake.”
