Always do your best……..and remember everything you do communicates something about you. How you engage with life speaks volumes about who you are, and how you are in this world. For some, it is always about them, and each time they communicate, plan, or contribute they drive their own agenda. For the spiritually strong among us, it can be very difficult to deal with these types of people because they offend our spirit. They are so, me focused, there is no room for spirit to thrive. They have not figured out how to make their life significant beyond the dimension of personal success. Sadly, they do not realize that their power and authenticity is measured by their love donations.
Putting love into what we do allows us to live beyond the narrow scope of ME…..and to make our way to enlightenment and a life that will matter. Recently, a few weeks before he died, my father and I had a conversation that will stay with me. After a life of dedicating himself to business he declared, it’s true what they say you don’t reach the end of your life and say – I wish I had worked more. You wish that you had been more present, and been there for your family and friends in ways that were meaningful to them. You wish that you had given more to the world and made a difference. The learning from that conversation is that the people whose legacies we hold in the highest esteem, earned them because of what they did, not what they had. The secret of prosperity is never found outside of yourself, it is in your heart, and it is what makes us significant, if we share it.
Robin Sharma said ” Stand for something bigger than yourself. Every single one of us is here for a reason, a special purpose, a mission. Yes, build a beautiful life for yourself and those you love. Yes, be happy and have a lot of fun. And yes, become successful, on your own terms rather than on those suggested to you by society. But, above all else, be significant. Make your life matter. Be of use. And be of service to as many people as possible. This is how each of us can shift from the realm of the ordinary into the heights of the extraordinary. And walk among the best who have ever lived. What is important is that we do contribute. That we make a difference. That we leave a legacy.”
