Always do your best……..and make sure that life brings you a little joy and laughter each day. Most of us don’t even notice how much of our life we spend worrying about things that never happen. We don’t recognize the number of days that pass when we could have made new choices and had different outcomes. In our youth we believe that we have our whole lives ahead of us….and so we put off to tomorrow what could have enriched today. Especially if we don’t have a plan. Life has a way of whooshing past us and then the days blur into each other because we don’t know where we are going, or what we want to achieve. The way to find joy in each day is to pay attention to the moments.
To understand that the most important time is now. This is the day ahead of you, so rejoice in it, be thankful for it, and find the joy in each moment. For this day will not come again. As children we smile hundreds of times each day, and slowly but surely, if we let it, life will rob us of many of those smiles. So find your inner child, encourage them to come out and play with the same abandonment that you possessed in your youth. Treasure the simple things, the things you might have taken for granted over time. Don’t ever start your day in neutral. Each day holds the promise of a new horizon, a hand extended in kindness, or a smile from a stranger. Today be that person. Take it all in…..and be present and grateful.
Nadine Stair said “If I had to live my life over again, I would relax more. I’d be sillier than I have been on this trip. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers, and watch more sunsets. I would have more actual troubles and less imaginary ones. Oh I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else, just moments, one after another. And I’d pick more daisies…..”
